Greenhouse Ministry

Happy MARCH and Happy SPRING!

I want to share with y’all about a remarkable ministry I’ve been able to help out with while studying at Bible School in Mexico. The YWAM Base where I am presently serving built a new greenhouse in January!! This video is a snippet of some of the ways we’re using it to inspire growth and hope. My friend Lalo invited me to join him in working with some young boys from the surrounding colonias, which are developing but poverty-stricken neighborhoods nearby. It is a joy to come alongside him as he teaches these youths about a skill and trade available to them. On Tuesday we opened up the greenhouse for people from the community to come and purchase some produce, then we drove to a farmer’s market to bargain with the shopkeeper. The kids are helpful and really enthusiastic to develop their interest of this skill (and hopefully their opportunity for success). Dropping each of them off at home with a head or two of lettuce was a touching way to end the evening and, though the potholes of the road have you bouncing every which way in the van, there was an almost tangible tranquility.

Through Homes of Hope [www.ywamhomesofhope.org], YWAM is eager to expand the impact we have on communities as a whole, and this is one way I’ve been able to be a part of that mission while being able to stay focused on my Bible School. I hope you’re as excited as I am… thanks for reading.

Take a look at the video and share the smile!!
