Jesus died on the cross for me.
Why is my heart hardened to the point where I don't share that with one or two of the 600,000 people who leave this world for eternity each day?
This is what my Saturday looked like ::
When you have the whole day to yourself, you can't waste a minute! I woke up at 7am and got my breakfast from the dining area, read my Bible and had a great couple minutes of fellowship with a few people. At 9am, I attended a surprise baby shower for my one of my dear friends, Brooke Passehl. She and her husband, Cory, are on the staff for my discipleship training school. About ten ladies got together, divided up tasks of cleaning her home, kidnapping her 15-month-old twin girls, sending off her husband to hang out with his Heavenly Father, and escorting sweet Brooke to a tent set up for pampering. What an AMAZING way to start my day, being a part of blessing a woman who is truly a woman after God's own heart.. At the end of the shower, we had a time of conversation, delicious cream cheese bars with passion fruit icing, and tasty cranberry punch. We spoke praises and words of affirmation over Brooke and lifted her up in prayer.
For anyone who hasn't heard the poignant headlines, a devastating earthquake and tsunami hit Japan on Thursday, the 10th of March. "Japan is experiencing its greatest hardships since World War II as it tackles the aftermath of an earthquake, tsunami and a growing nuclear crisis," Prime Minister Naoto Kan says. (BBC News) As a result of the natural disaster, the tsunami extended as far as the west coast of the United States, and did indeed cause some damage to the town I currently live in, Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i. At around 11am this morning, I was able to aid the King Kamehameha Hotel and it's sacred luau grounds. The damage to the hotel was profound, the twelve foot tsunami flooded the hotel's base floor, leaving rocks and mountains of sand... can't fail to mention the five foot eel! A ministry through the University of the Nations, Island Breeze, held a gathering for any YWAMers who had the availability to aid in the beginnings of the restoration process. We were able to rebuild rock walls, we tore down waterlogged sheds, and swept sand and plant debris for a few hours. Again, such a blessing to be a part of! There is a celestial joy that comes when we choose to walk in the opposite spirit than that of selfishness. I cannot imagine the hundreds of thousands of tragedies the Japanese people are facing in this hour, but they are in my heart as I see the Hawaiian Ohana coming together for the good of the community.
In the early evening, three of my good friends and I dined fine at Taco Bell, practiced some wonderful circus acts, then returned to the Youth With A Mission base. I watched a thirty minute clip on YouTube with my friend Caleb:: a man named Mark Cahill delivering a message on 'The One Thing You Can't Do in Heaven' -- When you take your last breath and leave this world, you will never share your faith with a lost soul again. The one thing you cannot do in Heaven is evangelize. Man, does this guy have zeal and passion.
Dinner is served from five until six, and I heard that a different class was hosting a talent show and that 360, my class, had been invited to perform. Myself and five classmates have been meeting at least once each week to practice fun choreography, dramas, musical talents- so we have a way to draw crowds in as an invitation to hear the gospel.
Under pressure, we threw everything into place and performed at the Ohana court. Oh, did I mention within the choreography there was circus training!?!?! :) The clip was recorded and, to my understanding, it will be put on YouTube.. I'll update with the link once its been posted.
The end of the night has been gradually winding down....
Walking and talking with Jesus is becoming my favorite thing. Ever.
Did you know God really, really speaks? Wow. That's exciting.
Buenos noches.
I can't wait for Sunday.
i feel honored to be mentioned in this blog post :D
